On October 31, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) released A-F School Letter Grades based on data from the 2018-2019 school year. PVSchools has 11 A-rated schools, 17 B-rated schools, eight C-rated schools, and five D-rated schools.
The system measures student proficiency and growth in English language arts, math and science of all students within a school, in addition to other indicators such as attendance, participation in advanced classes and graduation rates at our high schools.
The A through F Accountability System is one tool to help schools identify areas for improvement, for parents to understand how their child’s school is performing, and for the state to determine how to better utilize resources for schools needing additional support.
Below is the complete list of schools and their state letter grades.
All schools with a state accountability grade of D are required to participate in a school improvement process. This process involves evaluating current programs, setting rigorous goals, implementing plans to help students meet or exceed the challenging state academic standards, and measuring progress quarterly. Each of these schools will be working on a plan over the coming months and will hold a public meeting to share that plan with families and the community. The date and time of the meeting for each school will be posted on each individual school website which can be found by navigating to the District’s website at pvschools.net.
It is important to remember the letter grade system gives us information regarding academic performance on one specific state assessment, but does not provide a full picture of each school. For example, it does not take into account other measures of academic performance and learning within classrooms and schools, nor does it consider the unique programs and characteristics of each school, student and parent satisfaction, schools’ climate and culture, or other significant accomplishments. If you are interested in learning more about the state’s letter grade system, visit the Arizona State Board of Education website.
Thank you for your support of PVSchools. We believe everyday is an opportunity for growth and positive change. We are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for all of our students.
