March 2019 letter

As many of you know, the Governing Board has been hard at work searching for the next superintendent of PVSchools. Following a series of interviews in which every candidate was extremely qualified and impressive, we entered into contract negotiations with Dr. Jesse Welsh to be the PVSchools superintendent beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Dr. Welsh currently serves as an assistant superintendent in Clark County School District in Nevada, one of the largest school districts in the nation. (Learn more about Dr. Jesse Welsh.)

Our focus in the coming months will be to ensure a smooth transition of leadership as we honor the extraordinary work that Dr. Lee has done and welcome Dr. Welsh to PVSchools. We are confident Dr. Welsh is committed to building on the amazing things we have going on in our district, and he has promised that his superintendency, as has Dr. Lee’s, will be about listening to, learning from, and engaging in our schools and community. As a board, we have been dedicated to building and maintaining a school district that honors students, staff, and stakeholders, and we reaffirm that commitment.

As the school year starts to wind down, we remain revved up because there are many accomplishments to celebrate! From student-athletes to scholars to performers and artists, we are extremely proud of the accolades bestowed on the hard-working learners in PVSchools.

And they are not the only ones in our community getting awards! Many staff members also have earned our congratulations for their successes. We are exceedingly grateful to have a community of employees who value lifelong learning and model professional growth to our students every day.
